Urban Conquest Newsletter June 2011
Down in the Bunker - forum news and happenings

Wow! What can I say, the last three months have been hectic to say the least. The forum is growing at a fantastic rate and soon we will reach the magical 200 member mark. Now I know there are a lot of lurkers out there, we can see when people last logged in and it’s obvious a fair few are regular visitors but never post. Come on guys and girls, unlike some other forums around the world no one here will bite your head off if they don’t like what you said, we are a very friendly bunch here and I’m sure you all have some experiences and information to share.
Speaking of girls.. It’s nice to see a few more knife nuts of the female persuasion joining up, and now is probably a good time to gently remind the men folk to consider the ladies present when posting.

The forum is really developing well; the current review competition has seen the bar raised on quality reviews, it’s going to be a difficult one to judge and still has a month to run. There have been excellent posts in nearly all the sub forums and I’d like to thank member LeLoup for his excellent posts giving us all an insight into his chosen life style, truly inspiring. Waveman also continues his investigations on setting things on fire in a variety of ways in all kinds of conditions, again, good stuff to know and thank you.

Behind the scenes Astaman has added quite a few new features to the forum and is constantly looking for more useful gadgets and features, give the man a round of applause. The You Tube embedding feature alone was a great addition.

The Urban Conquest Velcro patches were a hit, still have a few but they are going fast. Yes, still working on T-shirts.

*JUNE SALE*
Yea, yea, I know this is the bit you have been waiting for.
OK. June is FREE postage month on any purchase over $100. There will also be Spot Specials. These will go up completely randomly in a new thread in the Sales sub forum; it will be stickied so it will be at the top of the page. There will also be a few free gifts added on certain items, these will be a total surprise, you won’t know what you’ve won it until your package arrives. Don’t get too excited, I’m not giving away any Sprint Run Spydies or Falknivens.

New Releases

I guess the big news is that we can finally get Benchmade products, of course any of the assisted models are off the table but the rest of the range is available. These take a little longer than other brands to get in, I do have to make a minimum order and the freight method they use is slow. So I prefer not to take orders, let me know what you want, I’ll put it on the list but can’t give a delivery date as the model may be out of stock by the time I place an order and may not arrive until the next shipment. However they are worth the wait. I’m trying to keep a few Griptilians and Mini-Grips on the shelf....trying.... they seem to fly straight back out again.

Boker have continued to release some interesting new gear, the Rold Camp Knife and the Kressler Sub Hilt are just two examples. Typical crisp clean finish and great ergos on both knives,The Kressler is beautifully polished and comes in a presentation case as well.

Hogue continue to show they plan to be a force to be reckoned with . The new fixed blade knives in 5 and 7 inch blades with the same Gmascus scale material used on the folders are defiantly the goods. Slightly blade heavy when held they are a well made knife that just begs to be used hard.

Also please notice we’ve got a whole new range of colours, some real eye melting stuff, in paracord and the price has dropped !

And I’ve started getting a few zippo lighters in, of course if you are Waveman you don’t need one, but they are listed in the Accessories/Misc section of the In Stock forum for us mere mortals. Take a look in the Book section as well; it’s expanding all the time.

Final Word

That’s it for this time, by the time I write the next newsletter we will have passed the 200th member on the forum and hopefully looking toward the 250th. Thanks to everyone who makes the forum what it is and a special thanks to the Mods, not only for tempting you with their monthly picks but also for the work they do behind the scenes.

Next newsletter is September, till then..see you on the Forum.

Stay Sharp, Stay Safe.
Ron
